Ballycarbery Castle

Ballycarberry Castle, which was built in the 15th Century by the McCarthy clan.  Along the same road are two ancient stone forts, Cahergal and Leacanabuaille. Ballycarbery Castle is one of the many McCarthy Mór Castles in Kerry along with Castlelough in Killarney, Ballymalis in Beaufort and the smaller McCarthy’s Castle in Ballinskellig’s. The more famous other McCarthy Mór Castle is Blarney in County Cork where you can kiss the Blarney Stone.
